Chapter 1: The Beginning

Running down a ruined hallway. The body I am carrying has never felt so heavy but I see the light of the exit. I told him "Kid you are going to be alright". We are so close to the exit that I see the ones I was with shouting and running past me. One of them yells out "This was a setup there is no way of us killing that thing even with the artifact." I reach the exit, and a blast of cold wind hits my face. There is snow as far as I can see and falling everywhere.

Down below I barely see the fallback point as few of the other have already started gathering there. I start my way down with the others as snow falls. A large blast from the place we came from sends me flying. Covered in snow I get up seeing the body I was carrying next to me. Turning around as the snow falls, I see something that is unimaginable. I cannot make out of its form as it floats in the sky. It said something in an ancient tongue and from it, a burst of light.

Looking around I just see shadows and dim light everywhere. Looking at my hands they are translucent. I guess I am dead now. I start to walk around as I see other shadows but I cannot interact with them. It feels like everyone is walking in that direction as I look behind me and look darker than going forward. As time passed it felt like I was walking forever. One of the shadows that past me looks familiar to me so I try to remember what has happened before this but all my memories are fuzzy. The more I tried to think, the more my headache grew along with the creaking noise. So I gave up on thinking about it but the noise didn't and slowly became louder. For a moment the sound stopped then a loud bang. It felt like I was falling, and then everything went black once again.

I awaken staring at the wooden ceiling. Slightly confused about where I am now, I look around as I stand up. It looks like a royal or magic library as the shelves and books look of high quality. Wondering where I am, I start walking over to the counter which no one is working at, and feel a bit tall for the counter. There was a sign that was crudely made with handwriting on it. It says "Welcome Vestige Soul to Genesis. All your strength and abilities are turned to null. Your form has changed. Pick one item, get a starter bag, and exit to start your new life."

I look down at my hand and it is a different shade. I feel my face and ears. Oh, I am a dark elf now. Then I looked down to see that I was wearing some kind of maid outfit and that I was shorter than I used to be. I slapped myself and it felt real.

Well, I cannot do anything about that now I guess. I start walking around the library. One area had an array of weapons while the other had armor and things I hadn't seen before. After a long bit of walking, I felt guided to one part of the library as if it were a familiar feeling from the past. Staring at the shelf a red and black book stood out. I pulled it out of the shelf.

I flipped through the pages but I couldn't read any of it. I closed the book and started to put it back but I was hesitant for some reason. Staring at it more, I decided to keep it as I have a sense of nostalgia. Walking away, I thought I heard a woman say good choice in a whisper.

Now at large doors with large exit text printed on it. Next to it was a backpack with paper on it saying your stuff. I look it over. It has basic survival stuff including a knife. I put the book into the backpack and got ready.

Entering the other of the door, it was a bright light before it went back to black.
