Overview
Red-Light is a rule-based street anomaly that activates when a person crosses a road while the traffic signal is red. Once triggered, a vehicle appears from an unclear origin point and attempts to strike the target before they reach the other side.
The anomaly is most often reported on streets that appear unusually empty. There are no moving vehicles, no visible drivers, no engine sounds, and often no pedestrians nearby. This false sense of safety appears to be part of the anomaly’s lure, making the crossing seem harmless until the victim steps into the road.
Trigger Conditions
Red-Light activates when a target enters a marked or implied crossing zone while the traffic light is red.
The anomaly does not appear to trigger if the target waits for the light to change, takes another route, or avoids entering the street entirely. However, once the rule is broken, the event begins immediately and may continue until the target leaves the crossing area.
Anomalous Behavior
After activation, a vehicle appears and attempts to hit the target. Witnesses have reported cars emerging from blind spots, turning from streets that were not visible seconds before, or appearing on roads that were completely clear.
The vehicle type varies between incidents. Smaller targets may be pursued by standard cars, while larger, armored, faster, or more durable targets may cause larger vehicles to appear. Reports include vans, trucks, buses, and heavy transport vehicles.
Several accounts claim the vehicles have no visible driver. In some cases, the doors open during the pass to strike targets who narrowly avoid the main collision.
Known Traits
- Activates when crossing on a red light
- Usually appears on abnormally empty streets
- Vehicle type changes depending on the target
- Vehicles may have no visible driver
- Doors may open to strike targets who dodge too closely
- The event may escalate if the target does not fully clear the street
- The anomaly appears to enforce a corrupted form of traffic law
Countermeasures
The primary countermeasure is simple: do not cross while the light is red.
Divers are advised to treat empty streets with traffic signals as suspicious, especially in unstable urban Nodes. Waiting for the signal to change is usually safer than attempting to test the anomaly. If Red-Light has already activated, the safest response is to exit the crossing area immediately without remaining near the vehicle’s path.
Dodging beside the vehicle is dangerous due to the possibility of door-strike behavior. Moving backward, clearing the road, or using barriers may increase survival chances.
Classification Notes
Red-Light is classified as an environmental rule-based anomaly rather than an entity. The vehicle behaves aggressively, but the true anomaly appears to be the crossing rule itself. The car is likely a manifestation, a punishment mechanism, or a temporary extension of the anomaly.
