Overview
Rot Pulse is an environmental anomaly reported in the Lost Forest. At irregular intervals, the forest exhales a visible wave of mist.
The wave accelerates decay in corpses and weakens relics. It may also worsen corruption in exposed wounds or unstable materials.
Observed Effects
Its effects make the condition of remains, equipment, and existing injuries relevant to an expedition. A site or object that appeared unchanged before the wave may require renewed assessment afterward.
The reported weakening of relics does not establish a universal duration or permanent loss of function. Likewise, the possible worsening of wound corruption should not be treated as proof that every exposure has the same result.
Encounter Considerations
The Lost Forest's survival guidance advises covering exposed wounds during a Rot Pulse. Its irregular occurrence means travelers cannot rely on a fixed schedule when deciding when to move or rest.
No confirmed universal shelter, cancellation method, or safe exposure threshold has been established.
Current Understanding
The pulse's source and relationship to the wider mist remain unexplained. It is recorded as a distinct event because of its visible wave and associated changes, rather than as a constant property of all fog within the Node.
How far a pulse travels, what initiates it, and whether different occurrences have equal strength remain open questions.
