Lilith Foxglove

The Cursed Rogue

Lilith Foxglove is a traveling scout whose reputation has become harder to escape than the dangers she faces. Once valued for her stealth, agility, and quick judgment, she is now known to many expedition crews as the “cursed rogue”—a survivor of journeys from which others never returned.

She travels between Nodes with guild branches, searching for scouting and expedition contracts. Safer groups often refuse to hire her, leaving her to accept dangerous work from employers willing to overlook her reputation.

The Cursed Rogue

Several expeditions involving Lilith ended in disaster. Her survival became the detail people remembered, and suspicion gradually overshadowed the skills that had once made her a welcome addition to a party.

The rumors offer an easy explanation: misfortune follows Lilith, and those who travel beside her pay the price. Whether that accusation has any truth remains unresolved. Surviving a disaster is enough to make people talk; surviving several has made her difficult to trust.

Lilith quietly tolerates the title. She rarely argues with those who use it, even when their suspicion costs her another opportunity.

Life Between Nodes

Lilith follows the availability of work rather than maintaining a permanent base. Guild branches give her somewhere to seek contracts as she moves between Nodes, but finding a posting and finding a crew willing to take her are different problems.

Dangerous expeditions offer chances that more cautious employers will not. For Lilith, each contract provides a living and another opportunity to demonstrate that she can bring something valuable to a group.

Even so, she does not accept every job offered to her. There are contracts she refuses, and she does not always explain her reasons.

Skills and Expedition Work

Lilith excels at moving quietly, scouting ahead, and gathering information without drawing attention. Her agility helps her evade threats, while quick reflexes and sharp instincts allow her to respond when a situation deteriorates.

She is also skilled with locks, making her useful when an expedition encounters secured doors or containers. Her strengths favor careful observation and precise action, though even a capable scout cannot account for every danger an unfamiliar Node may hold.

Lilith will attempt to rescue companions in trouble. Her willingness to help has limits, however, and she is capable of retreating when she decides she can go no further. Those left to judge her survival may never agree on whether she escaped too soon.

Appearance

Lilith has short, dark hair, vivid green eyes, and pointed ears. A broad green cloak wraps around practical traveling clothes, with leather gloves and bracers protecting her hands and forearms.

Belts, straps, and several pouches keep supplies close at hand. Her clothing suits someone who spends much of her life traveling and working beyond the comfort of settled areas.

Personality and Personal Habits

Independent and guarded, Lilith finds it difficult to rely on others. Guilt over past losses and perceived failures weighs heavily on her, and she struggles to believe she deserves the acceptance she wants.

Her familiar refrain, “People never change,” sits uneasily beside her desire to rebuild her own life.

Away from expedition work, Lilith enjoys fantasy and adventure books. She absentmindedly twirls her lockpicks while waiting and has a habit of quietly setting aside extra snacks from shared provisions.

Beneath her cynicism is a persistent wish to be welcomed into a group again—to have her skills recognized without every success becoming another reason for suspicion.
