Title: The Flash Sword — “The Last Guard Still Standing”
Race: Wildlia
Function Role: Solo Diver / Tactical Enforcer
Affiliation: Freelancer
Status: Independent
Original World: Military Experimentation Sector
Profile
Before Genesis, DU was a no-name lab guard—present but invisible, trained to obey and disappear. That changed when the facility she was assigned to exploded in a classified weapons test gone wrong.
She survived. Barely. But something in the blast altered her.
She moved differently. Reality seemed to lag when she swung. Guns no longer worked in her hands, their aim scattering as if the barrel rejected her. But her sword cut true—delayed, precise, unforgettable.
The military saw a new kind of soldier. They turned her into a weapon and pointed her at the front.
They gave her medals. She gave them obedience. Until one order asked too much.
During a scheduled leave, she returned to a forgotten town—the only place that felt real to her. The kids there tugged her hair. The old friend there made her laugh again. When that town was marked for target testing, DU begged to stay.
Her commanding officer didn’t argue. He just nodded.
She stayed. She broke protocol. And she watched the town burn.
Now in Genesis, DU doesn’t seek atonement. She moves forward. Quiet. Exact. Relentless.
She chose a blade in the Library of Arrival. The world flickers around her—and the sword always lands last.
Appearance
- Short-cut black hair with clean side-swept bangs
- Metallic charms clipped into strands—some military, some personal
- Golden eyes with a penetrating calm
- Refined hybrid outfit: reinforced combat jacket, pleated skirt, matte leggings, armored boots
- Wears shrine-guard gloves and a sash bearing a sigil from a forgotten unit or perhaps a dream
- Carries a sword in a glowing sheath that pulses faintly with time-delayed energy echoes
Personality
Disciplined. Haunted. Present.
DU is the one who speaks last and moves first. She is not a leader by design—but people follow her because she’s the one who never flinches. Her loyalty is given rarely. But when it’s yours, it’s absolute.
She rarely speaks of the past, but it speaks through her every motion. She fights not for revenge, but for something better to follow her blade.
Abilities
- Lag Out
DU can partially desynchronize from the current moment. This causes damage and actions to delay, letting her avoid hits or strike with uncanny timing. In rare cases, she can negate damage entirely. - Aftershock Precision
Her attacks land with a timed pulse—striking just after her swing finishes. This allows her to cut through enemy guards or confuse parries. The same ability makes firearms unusable in her hands; they simply can’t lock onto the now she exists in. - Ritual Guard Discipline (Passive)
DU’s stance training and spiritual grounding allow her to resist panic, stagger, or psychic anomalies for longer than most. Her aura anchors the morale of those near her.
Associated Notes
- Despite her altered perception, DU retains a calm battlefield presence and high tactical value
- Her relationship with the younger characters suggests a protective instinct toward children
- Vestige suspects she remembers more than she lets on—but she never confirms it
