Mary Light

Title: The Radiant Wall — “Bearer of the Maiden’s Mercy”
Race: Human (Light-Bound)
Function Role: Divine Vanguard / S.C.D. Frontliner
Affiliation: Holy Order of the Divine Light (S.C.D.)
Status: Active Combat Agent / Shield of the Creed

Profile

She shouts her name before battle—not as arrogance, but as ritual.

Mary Light is the Order's burning shield—blessed with the ability to bend light around herself and others, casting illusions, warding allies, and drawing fire with unnatural precision. She believes she was chosen by the Maiden to act as a guardian for those not strong enough to protect themselves.

Chief among them is Iris, whom she protects without question, hesitation, or care for command hierarchy. Her overconfidence is legendary. Her shields are stronger.

“The Light speaks through me. It burns for her.”

Appearance

Radiant-white armor with gold-seared lining and a massive circular shield across her back
Eyes that gleam like refracted halos
Short-cropped hair swept back by force of motion or faith
Carries a modified submachine weapon and a light-bending flash array

Personality

Proud. Loud. Knight to a fault.

Mary Light is the kind of person who throws herself into a fire if she believes someone she loves stands on the other side. Her faith is unshakable. Her words are gospel. Her attitude is... divisive.

She thrives on attention, not because she needs it—but because it protects others from being noticed.

If Iris is the Order’s bullet, Mary is the armor plate screaming back at the trigger.

Abilities

Light Aura
A passive radiant field surrounds Mary. Projectiles bend, aim falters, and enemies instinctively target her. It is as much psychological as supernatural.

Bend the Horizon
With her flash-based tools and light manipulation, she can scatter visuals, blind groups, and redirect fire. She makes herself the battlefield.

Vow of Protection
If Iris is harmed, Mary enters a reactive state. Her light hardens. Her aim sharpens. If Iris dies, her aura collapses—and the light dies with it.

Shield Stance
Can absorb nearly any frontal damage. She believes no blade can strike behind her shield if she's holding the line.

Related Notes

  • When Iris collapses mid-mission, Mary often refuses medical aid for herself until Iris is stabilized
  • Her Knight’s Code forbids dishonorable combat—but defines “dishonor” very loosely
  • When exposed to soulbound light, her shield shimmered with glyphs not found in any Order records
