Overview

Ticker Wolves are animate debt vessels—twisting together contract ink, ticker tape, and the compressed soul-signatures of defaulters. More than mere constructs, they act as enforcers and trackers for Broker Wolves, responding to spiritual imbalance, broken pacts, or uncollected dues.

They move with eerie precision, their motions clockwork-smooth, accompanied by a low mechanical ticking. Each Ticker Wolf houses a Ticker Core—a golden, gear-laced artifact believed to house the essence of a debtor who failed to uphold a Broker deal.

Their behavior suggests lingering personality traits from their prior lives, and scholars argue that the wolves are not simply obeying commands… they are remembering.

Killing one may free a soul—or simply mark you for the next contract.

Known Traits

  • Constructed from layers of white ledger paper, inked contracts, and woven brass
  • Wolf-like frame with exposed mechanical ligaments
  • Eyes display shifting red numbers—sometimes timers, sometimes values
  • Saliva blackens or glows green under agitation

  • Uses intimidation, speed, and cornering strategies
  • Responds not only to physical threat, but also to emotional intensity or soul-debt fluctuations
  • May pause mid-hunt if the target presents a viable counteroffer or token

Material of Interest

Ticker Core
A golden, gear-etched artifact found in each Ticker Wolf’s chest cavity. Said to contain the final echo of a debtor’s soul. When removed, the Core sometimes whispers to its holder or continues counting down.

Used by Brokers in new deals, black market rituals, or soul-binding procedures. Carrying one without protection often results in paranoia, visions… or debt-tracking hallucinations.
