Codex Entry

Ira

A Bloom-Class vampire anomaly whose blood remembers hunger, violence, and someone she may have once protected.

Profile

Ira first appeared in a blood-slicked warzone, the kind of battlefield Postremo Limine was never meant to inherit.

She walked alone.

She left no survivors.

What Red Spindle once called Bloom Project 011 was a failed attempt to weaponize spiritual hunger through synthetic god-seeding, vampire biology, and soul-wrapped flesh. Ira was meant to become an apex predator: a controllable blood weapon capable of marking, draining, and harvesting entire combat zones.

Instead, she went silent.

Then she walked out of a collapse site and never looked back.

Now Ira roams Postremo Limine with Yasu, a gunslinger she should have killed. Something in him echoes a memory she lost, so she follows him. Protects him. Feeds only when needed. Watches him like a forgotten promise trying to remember its name.

Appearance

Ira has ash-white skin threaded with blackened veins that pulse faintly red when blood is nearby. Her eyes glow dim crimson when focused, shifting toward starless black in darkness.

Blood-grown armor wraps around her limbs, hardened from stolen vitae, old bone, and lingering regret. It does not look worn so much as grown into place, as if her body remembers violence better than clothing.

She often stands too still, listening for things others cannot hear. When she moves, it is sudden, exact, and predatory.

Ira does not look like someone waiting to strike.

She looks like the strike has already happened.

Personality

Predatory. Poised. Conflicted.

Ira views most of Postremo Limine as prey, playthings, or background noise. She is arrogant, dismissive, and merciless toward those she considers beneath her. Humans, in particular, are often treated as fragile things pretending to be important.

Yet around Yasu, something changes.

She becomes uncertain. Watchful. Almost restrained.

His presence causes feedback in her blood-weaving, like a memory of something sacred she forgot she ever had. She does not understand why he matters, and that bothers her more than any threat.

Ira has no interest in orders, gods, factions, or ideals. She values survival, strength, and answers. But beneath the hunger and cruelty is the faint shape of something older.

Possibly a guardian.

Possibly a martyr.

Possibly someone who once knew what it meant to protect without feeding.

Abilities / Combat Style

Blood Marking

Ira can mark targets by striking them with blood-formed weapons, shooting them with marked rounds, or implanting her own blood directly into their bodies.

Marked targets bleed faster, move slower, and become vulnerable to remote draining. Once marked, enemies can be targeted by Ira or her blood orbs even from a distance.

This effect does not work properly on targets without blood.

Blood Orbs

Ira creates floating blood orbs from condensed lifeforce and the hearts of the dead. Each orb resembles a crimson sphere with a beating heart suspended at its center.

These constructs act as guardians, scouts, shields, and ranged drain conduits. They can attack marked targets, defend Ira, and absorb excess healing when Ira herself is already restored.

Though they appear mindless, the orbs respond to Ira with unsettling precision, as if connected by psychic threads she rarely acknowledges.

Area Drain

Ira can drain every marked target within a zone with surgical precision. The damage occurs from within the victim’s own body, bypassing many forms of armor and external defense.

The first drain can paralyze weaker targets as their organs seize under the forced extraction.

If Ira is injured, the stolen lifeforce restores her. If she is already whole, the excess is fed into her blood orbs.

Rain of Blood

Ira can turn the weather itself into a marking field, causing blood to rain across an area. Any blood-bearing target touched by the rain risks becoming marked.

Under Rain of Blood, cover becomes unreliable. Distance becomes irrelevant. Shelter becomes a question of whether the blood has already found a way in.

Blood Lance

Ira forms a jagged lance from condensed vitae, shaping it through elaborate blood gestures before launching or driving it into a target.

The Blood Lance pierces armor, flesh, and certain forms of light-based protection. Ira often uses it as an execution technique.

Sometimes, she treats it like art.

Shield of Blood

Ira can harden blood into defensive barriers around herself or her orbs. These shields are flexible, fast-forming, and disturbingly alive, pulsing in response to incoming damage.

Known History

Ira’s earliest confirmed sighting places her in a blood-soaked battlefield associated with a Stalingrad-like warzone. Records describe her as a vampire-class threat and list her under kill-on-sight protocols.

Her deeper origin is more uncertain.

Red Spindle documentation identifies her as Bloom Project 011, a failed experiment designed to create a controllable blood predator through synthetic god-seeding and soul-wrapped flesh. Whether Ira began as a vampire, a human, a guardian, or something else entirely remains unknown.

Her older memories are damaged. She remembers violence clearly, but not always why it happened. Certain names, places, and voices trigger flashes of recognition before dissolving again.

At some point, Ira was caught in a collapse and trapped beneath debris. Yasu found her there. Despite the danger, despite her being a target, and despite every reasonable instinct telling him to leave, he saved her.

That act stirred a faded memory.

Since then, Ira has followed him.

She claims Yasu may be the key to what she lost. Whether that means a person, a promise, a past identity, or the last part of herself that was not made by Red Spindle remains unknown.

Role in the Story

Ira represents the monster who remembers being something else.

She is not safe. She is not gentle. She is not redeemed simply because she follows Yasu. But her attachment to him creates a fracture in the predator Red Spindle tried to build.

Where Yasu is unwanted luck, Ira is unwanted hunger. He survives disasters by accident. She survives them by becoming the disaster.

Together, they form a dangerous contradiction: a failed gunslinger who saves monsters, and a blood anomaly that may still remember how to protect someone back.

Relationships

Yasu: The only known person Ira consistently refuses to harm. Yasu saved her from debris, triggering a faded memory she has not been able to ignore. She follows him by choice, not control.

Red Spindle Consortium: Ira is tied to Red Spindle experimentation through Bloom Project 011. Whether the organization still seeks to reclaim, terminate, or replicate her remains unknown.

Blood Orbs: Ira’s minion constructs, created from condensed blood and the hearts of the dead. They act as extensions of her will, feeding, shielding, and attacking in response to marked targets.

Vestige Soul: Potential ally or threat depending on circumstance. Ira’s reaction to soulbound entities may reveal more about her lost identity.

Vampires: Ira is often classified as a vampire, though her Red Spindle modifications make her something stranger than a normal blood-drinker.

Related Notes

Ira is classified as a Bloom-Class anomaly and remains under kill-on-sight warnings in several hostile records.

Her blood marking does not function properly on targets without blood.

Heavy water or fire damage can disrupt her blood control and regeneration.

Ira is arrogant, short-tempered, and overconfident, especially toward humans.

She has confirmed knowledge of multiple pre-collapse languages but often chooses not to speak them.

Soul resonance logs suggest Ira may retain fragments of a pre-Postremo Limine identity, possibly a guardian, martyr, or failed protector.

Her dependency bond with Yasu is considered non-standard. No known control protocol exists between them.
