What Is Postremo Limine? The World Behind Vestige Soul

Postremo Limine example in game I was working on

Postremo Limine is a dimension where the leftovers of other dimensions seem to end up. The unwanted, the forgotten, the broken, and sometimes the plain mistakes all find their way there.

For most beings, arriving in Postremo Limine is a one-way ticket. Many who enter never leave. Some are lucky enough to be intercepted by the Library, a strange place that can offer them a boon through a relic, a contract, or something else entirely. This matters because many who arrive in Postremo Limine have the powers, identities, or advantages from their past lives stripped away.

Within Postremo Limine are nodes, which are like mini-worlds with their own rules. A node might look like an endless apartment complex, a ruined city, a forgotten sanctuary, or something stranger. Each node can twist reality in its own way, and many of them contain endless, ever-changing landscapes.

LimiCore and Safe Zones

The main technology people need to understand in Postremo Limine is LimiCore.

LimiCore powers much of the technology used to survive inside the dimension. One of its most important uses is in Limi-Anchors, devices that can stabilize parts of a node and create safe zones.

Safe zones are places where entities, anomalies, and even the nodes themselves have a harder time changing, corrupting, or breaking reality. They are not always perfectly safe, but they are safer than the unstable world outside them.

Without LimiCore, most people would have no reliable way to hold territory, build settlements, or survive long-term in Postremo Limine.

Who Ends Up in Postremo Limine?

Characters in this world are either born within Postremo Limine or dropped into it by mistake, accident, punishment, or forces they do not fully understand.

Very few people willingly choose to go there. Even fewer know it exists before they arrive.

That is part of what makes the world dangerous. Most people are not prepared for Postremo Limine. They wake up in a place that does not care who they used to be, what they had, or what they thought they were capable of.

Why This Setting Works for Vestige Soul

I chose this style of world because it gives Vestige Soul room to grow.

Postremo Limine is flexible by design. Like the worldbuilding of League of Legends, it can hold many different regions, characters, factions, powers, and tones without everything needing to feel exactly the same.

It also lets me bring together the types of stories and games I enjoy: extraction shooters, roguelites, survival horror, strange technology, dark fantasy, and broken worlds.

The setting takes inspiration from things like Blame!, Fate/stay night, Re, Made in Abyss, Backrooms, SCP, and other stories built around mystery, danger, scale, and survival.

Postremo Limine is not meant to be a normal fantasy world. It is a place of leftovers, mistakes, ruins, and second chances.

And for Vestige Soul, it is the world he has to survive.
