Overview
LimiCore is the most influential technological framework within Postremo Limine. Conceived by Virell Thalrik and Caldre Voxis, it was designed to create pockets of stability within the unstable layers of the world.
Today, LimiCore serves as the backbone of most safe zones, powering barriers, supporting LimiTech, and anchoring reality itself.
Definition
LimiCore is a volatile energy source extracted from unstable nodes and refined into processed core rods. These rods are used to power LimiTech, safe-zone infrastructure, defensive systems, and reality-stabilizing machinery.
Raw LimiCore is dangerous and unstable. Only after processing can it be safely encased, coded, and inserted into machines or core stations.
Extraction / Processing
LimiCore is first extracted from unstable nodes. The more unstable the node, the greater the quantity and quality of LimiCore that can be harvested.
After extraction, the raw material is processed into rods and encased within a unique alloy of quantum-bound metals. These casings are then infused and “coded” with arcane glyphcraft, allowing the rods to transfer energy safely into LimiTech systems.
Once completed, processed LimiCore rods are inserted into machines, generators, core stations, Limi-Anchors, and other stabilized infrastructure.
History
LimiCore was first created through the research of Caldre Voxis and Virell Thalrik. Caldre Voxis is credited with discovering and refining LimiCore into the framework still used today, while Virell Thalrik aided and accelerated the research that made large-scale use possible.
The current locations of both Caldre Voxis and Virell Thalrik are unknown. In later records, Virell Thalrik became synonymous with obsession, forbidden research, and the consequences of pushing LimiCore beyond its accepted limits.
Rules / Limitation
The safer a node is, the lower the quality and quantity of LimiCore that can be extracted from it. The most valuable LimiCore usually comes from the most unstable and dangerous zones.
Raw LimiCore must be kept in sealed containers, as exposure can cause corruption, mutation, hallucination, spatial distortion, or other unknown effects.
Processed LimiCore rods can be made in different sizes, but most safe zones use standardized rods. Larger rods provide more output, but they also increase the risk of instability, leakage, casing failure, and catastrophic overload.
If the alloy casing is damaged enough to expose the LimiCore inside, the rod should be repaired, sealed, or discarded immediately. Continued use may cause unpredictable side effects.
If the arcane glyphcraft fades, breaks, or is removed, the rod can no longer transfer energy properly. In some cases, this renders the rod inert. In worse cases, it may cause unstable discharge.
Depleted LimiCore rods are usually returned to unstable nodes for disposal. Safe storage methods exist, but they are expensive and time-consuming, so they are normally reserved for rods intended to be repurposed.
Usage / Role in Society
LimiCore is used throughout safe-zone life. It powers defensive barriers, electrical systems, civic infrastructure, transport devices, industrial machinery, and many forms of LimiTech.
- Limi-Anchors are stabilizers embedded into the heart of safe zones. They prevent local collapse and keep territory habitable.
- Limi-Barriers are defensive fields generated by Anchors. They form protective domes or boundary layers that repel anomalies, seal intrusions, and reduce outside instability.
Cultural Impact
Without LimiCore, society in Postremo Limine would be far more nomadic, fragmented, and vulnerable. Safe zones exist because LimiCore allows people to hold territory against a world that constantly threatens to break apart.
LimiCore extractor Divers are among the highest-paid workers in Postremo Limine, but the job is also one of the most dangerous. Extraction teams must enter unstable zones, carry specialized backpack-sized equipment, and protect raw LimiCore during transport.
Because raw LimiCore is extremely valuable, extractor Divers are common targets for raiders, rival factions, desperate survivors, and entities drawn to unstable energy.
