Followers of Feyla

Followers of the Forest Mother, tending sacred groves and protecting the living world

Overview

The Followers of Feyla, also known as Feylans, worship the Forest Mother, a Fey goddess of life, growth, and the interconnectedness of living beings within Postremo Limine. Their faith centers on reverence for nature, the protection of ancient trees, and the care of sacred groves.

Feyla is present within Postremo Limine and can act within the plane. Some of her followers receive divine blessings. Anyone may join the Feylans by following the faith; receiving a blessing is distinct from becoming a member.

Feyla, the Forest Mother

Feyla embodies life, growth, and the connections between living things. She is commonly depicted as a radiant figure in flowing green robes adorned with leaves and flowers. Her followers associate the whisper of leaves and the movement of branches with her presence.

To the Feylans, nature is sacred. Trees are honored as signs of the goddess's presence and power, while ancient trees hold particular importance as expressions of wisdom, endurance, and continuity.

Beliefs and Ancient Trees

Feylans regard ancient trees as witnesses to generations of life and death. Their age and survival make them living monuments to nature's resilience and to the wisdom associated with the Forest Mother.

The faith teaches stewardship of the natural world. Protecting a tree or restoring a damaged ecosystem is part of religious practice, alongside prayer and ceremony.

Sacred Groves and Heartwood Trees

Sacred groves serve as places of worship, gathering, and reflection. Each is centered on an ancient tree known as a Heartwood Tree, believed by the faithful to be a direct conduit to Feyla's spirit.

Followers gather there to seek guidance, honor the goddess, and maintain their community's connection to the living world. The grove and its Heartwood Tree are central to the religious life of those who tend them.

Rituals and Offerings

Worship takes place through prayers, chants, meditations, and ceremonies within the groves. Offerings of flowers, fruit, and herbs are placed at the base of the Heartwood Tree as expressions of gratitude and reverence.

Priests and priestesses lead these observances and seek the Forest Mother's guidance for the community. The rituals honor both Feyla and the ancient trees through which her followers understand their relationship with nature.

Membership and Divine Blessings

Anyone can become a Feylan by following the faith. Membership is open to those who accept its beliefs and practices.

Some followers are granted divine blessings by Feyla. These gifts come from a goddess present within Postremo Limine, and they are not a power possessed by every member. Divine magic's place among the world's magical systems is described in Magic and Mana.

Guardians and Stewardship

Druids and rangers serve as guardians of the forests and sacred groves. They patrol the woodlands, defend ancient trees, and protect the places entrusted to their care.

Feylans advocate sustainable practices and work to restore damaged ecosystems. Their devotion is expressed through the continued care of living places as well as the ceremonies held within them.

Legend of the First Tree

Feylan tradition tells of a first ancient tree planted by Feyla at the dawn of creation. According to the legend, she breathed life into its seed and nurtured it into a towering guardian of the forest.

This World Tree is believed to be the ancestor of all ancient trees and an embodiment of the Forest Mother's divine presence. It is a sacred account within the faith, through which followers explain the bond between their goddess and the trees they protect.
