Overview
Shadowbloom Forest is a forest Node in Postremo Limine, filled with enormous trees, gnarled branches, massive roots, dense foliage, and luminous growth. Its ambient lighting remains in perpetual dusk because of the Node's own rule.
The forest is one of the few known twin Nodes. It always appears as a pair with the Abysmal Abyss. If either Node is destroyed, the other follows.
Perpetual Dusk
Shadowbloom's dusk is an environmental rule of the Node. Its thick canopy contributes to the forest's appearance, but the lighting condition does not depend solely on leaves blocking or reflecting sunlight.
Phosphorescent moss and bioluminescent fungi punctuate the dim surroundings. Their glow gives the forest points of illumination among the enormous trees and roots.
The behavior of carried lamps, flames, and magical light has not been established by this lighting rule.
Forest and the Twilight Grove
The forest's enormous trees and intertwined roots shape a dense environment. Gnarled branches and thick foliage surround habitats adapted to the low ambient light.
The Twilight Grove is a region associated with this dim forest environment and its varied flora and fauna. It belongs to Shadowbloom's landscape; it is not an intermediate layer that makes the Abysmal Abyss the physical bottom of the forest.
Inhabitants
Large trapdoor spiders, cow-sized pill bugs, and humanoid fungus folk inhabit Shadowbloom Forest. These inhabitants also occur in its twin.
Large mantises are an additional feature of Shadowbloom's wildlife. Their behavior and the social organization of the fungus folk remain undescribed.
Its Twin: Abysmal Abyss
Shadowbloom Forest and the Abysmal Abyss are separate Nodes whose appearance and survival are linked. They always appear as a pair, and the destruction of one leads to the destruction of the other.
The Abyss has its own caverns, tunnels, depths, lighting rule, and inhabitants. It is not an uninterrupted underground continuation of Shadowbloom Forest.
The exact mechanism of the twin bond and the time between their destructions are unknown. Their paired nature does not establish a particular mapped entrance or crossing. See Travel Between Nodes for the wider rules governing edges.
Place Among Nodes
Shadowbloom combines a persistent lighting rule with a rare dependence on another Node's survival. The general Nodes page explains the environments and rules of Postremo Limine's reality bubbles.
